The ship’s crew spent the night on board following the grounding at around 04:30 GMT on Saturday.

The vessel went aground near to Little Harcar rock, close to the Longstone Lighthouse.

The MV Danio was carrying timber from Perth, Scotland to Antwerp, Belgium when the incident occurred.

The Farne Islands are an important site for bird and wild life and locals are worried that any fuel leakage will damage the environment and hit the islands 80,000 strong seabird population.

The Farnes are home to puffins, grey seals and are the breeding ground for over 20 bird species. Fortunately the incident has occurred before the spring return of the majority of the bird population.

Tugs are on standby whilst a recovery from Danio’s tricky position amongst the rocks is being planned.

Here on shipfinder.co we have been tracking the stricken vessel when receiving AIS data.

A major rescue operation is under way in the North Sea tonight following the a collision between two cargo vessels.

The vehicle Carrier Baltic Ace is reported to have sunk.

Dutch coastguard helicopters and lifeboats are on the scene and have winched some crew members to safety from the vessels life rafts.

The second vessel involved in the incident, Cargo carrier Corvus J, is also reported to be badly damaged although is not in danger of sinking. We are still tracking this vessel live on Ship Finder – http://shipfinder.co/ship/209883000

Baltic Sea can be seen here approximately 40 minutes before the incident – http://shipfinder.co/ship/309474000/time/2012-12-05T17:20:00%20UTC

Rescue operations are reportedly hampered by high seas and freezing water in the area.

Earlier this afternoon we saw Baltic Ace leave Zeebrugge bound for Kotka, Finland – http://shipfinder.co/ship/309474000/time/2012-12-05T15:20:00%20UTC

Corvus J was on her way from Grangemouth, Scotland to the port of Antwerp in Belgium.

The new vessel Heulin Dispatch ran aground on Friday evening on her maiden voyage from Southampton to the Channel Islands.

Heulin Dispatch accident – Screenshot shipfinder.co

The vessel hit a rock off Alderney at around 18:4o BST.

Shortly afterwards the RNLI Lifeboat 14-04 (Roy Barker One) was dispatched arriving at the cargo vessel soon afterwards.

Heulin Dispatch was assessed and headed to Falmouth at half speed for repair work.

The new supply route was expected to take the ship from Southampton to Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney before returning to Southampton.

A statement on the Heulin-Renouf Shipping website confirmed the incident and the fact that the crew and cargo are safe and sound.

The statement goes on to say that “There is a specific challenge with the Alderney cargo which we are managing, otherwise our service continues to run as normal.”

and that “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in managing this incident for their help and support.”

We tracked the incident here on shipfinder.co – http://shipfinder.co/ship/250002688/time/2012-09-21T17:10:00%20UTC

Huelin Dipsatch: MMSI 250002688

Data source : http://shipfinder.co/ship/250002688

The £8.8m Huelin Renouf Dispatch hit a rock off the coast of Alderney at around 19:00 BST on Friday.

The captain of the new 90m (295ft) vessel issued a distress call after running aground on an isolated rock one and a half miles south-west of Alderney.

Damage to the Dispatch was assessed and it was found that water was coming in at the stern of the stricken vessel, which had a crew of eight.

The leak was contained and the 2,500-ton ship was floated off the rock just before 20:00 BST before heading to Falmouth at half-speed, where it is now in dry dock.

and back to Southampton.

Richard Evans, chief executive of Huelin Renouf Shipping, said the crew and cargo were safe.

He said: “We have initiated the most appropriate contingency plan to ensure that we continue to deliver to our customers.

“There is a specific challenge with the Alderney cargo which we are managing, otherwise our service continues to run as normal.”
