Cargo ship Ciudad de Cadiz runs aground

The Ro-Ro cargo ship, Ciudad de Cadiz, remains grounded on a sandbank in the Dee estuary.

The ship ran aground at 13:45 GMT on Wednesday in gusty conditions on the Dee Estuary whilst she was awaiting to dock at Mostyn. An unsuccessful attempt was made to re-float the vessel last night. A new attempt is expected today.

All crew are reported to be safe and the ships position has been secured by tugs.
Ciudad de Cadiz is one of three vessels used to transport the UK manufactured Airbus A380 wings to France.
